Patty has been playing American Mah Jongg since 2023 and quickly developed a deep appreciation for the game. Inspired by her enthusiasm, she decided to take the next step and pursue accreditation as an instructor. After researching several programs, Patty chose to become accredited through Debbie Barnett’s School of American Mah Jongg, recognizing the program’s strong emphasis on teaching according to National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and standards.
Patty holds a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri and previously taught Kindergarten and First Grade. Her background in education provides a strong foundation for her teaching style, allowing her to present concepts clearly, use proper terminology, and support students with patience and confidence. She is passionate about helping others learn and creating an enjoyable, structured learning environment.
She is married, the mother of four grown children, and a proud grandmother. Patty credits her husband and children for encouraging her to pursue her goal of becoming a Mah Jongg instructor.
Based in the Kansas City metro area, Patty welcomes the opportunity to teach others this engaging game that fosters both community and lasting friendships.
